My Gardening Background

i have absolutely no gardening experience. i currently have three types of indoor plants that are in serious need of help:

(Not-So-Lucky) Bamboo
my boyfriend and i each bought a bamboo plant from Ikea (my first plant ever) last year. he jokingly said "let's see who's will live longer" because i come from a long line of "brown thumbs". i put them both in pretty vases and filled them with pretty rocks. well, of course, his bamboo shot up a foot and is thriving. almost all of the leaves on mine died and now the stalk is starting to rot. they both receive the same light and are watered at the same time. i'm worried that mine will die completely soon.

Gordon
last summer i rescued an indoor plant from a restaurant that didn't want it anymore. it was doing okay outside until i brought it indoors for the winter. i don't get a lot of direct sunlight in my apartment and i never even thought to feed the poor thing plant food (don't worry, i am now). needless to say, it didn't take long before one entire stalk (or whatever you call it) died and almost every leaf started to turn brown. i don't even know what kind of plant it is (that's why i call it Gordon).  i recently pruned all of the dead parts off of the plant, so will see how it'll do now.

Kalanchoe
i also have two very small kalanchoe succulent plants that were given to me as a gift. i potted them up to slightly bigger pots and have them sitting in my window where they get a bit of sunlight. they were doing well for a while but now the flowers are wilting and they are supposed to last for a very long time.

i will post pictures of my indoor plants and more details soon. i would appreciate any advice you have for me so i can help them be healthier.

i truly am a clueless gardener. if i can't keep these simple indoor plants alive, how will i grow beautiful vegetables?
